Xbox One / Elite Series 1 Analog Drift Repair
Tear-down of an Xbox One or Elite Series 1 pad whose stick walks on its own. T8/T6 security bits, analog module swap, and the bumper ribbon that likes to unseat.
Before you start
- Elite Series 2 is a different layout. This sheet is One / Elite Series 1.
- The battery board pops off a friction connector — do not peel the foil.
- Center the new stick in the shell hole before you drive the module screws or it binds.

T8 the back shell
Peel the grip labels if your revision hides screws under them. Four T8 security screws. Split the shell from the bumper side so the rumble motors stay in their cups.

Unplug battery and rumble
Lift the wireless/battery board. Note the rumble leads. You need the analog modules on the front half, not a fight with the battery foil.

T6 the drifting module
Two or three T6 screws around the bad stick. Desolder or unclip depending on whether you bought a board-level module or a through-hole stick. Match the part you actually have.

Seat the new stick
Drop the module onto the posts, confirm the cap is centered in the front-shell hole, then tighten evenly. A cocked module feels like remaining drift.
- 05
Close and deadzone-test
Battery board, shell, T8. On the dashboard, leave the stick untouched — it should not walk. Then full circles. Recalibrate in accessories if the cursor sits off-center.
