Sony WH-1000XM4 Left Hinge Swivel Replacement
Left-cup swivel hinge swap on the XM4. The cable runs through the hinge — this is a wire-thread job, not a snap-fit. Right cup is a different part.
Before you start
- This part is left-only. The right hinge is not interchangeable.
- Do not pinch the cable in the swivel. A flattened wire kills the cup.
- Keep the tiny cover screws off the driver — they vanish into the speaker magnet.

Peel the left pad and mesh
Work the pad off the cup from the inner lip. Lift the mesh without tearing the foam ring underneath. You need a clear shot at the two cover screws.

Open the outer cover
Remove the two Phillips screws that hold the plastic cover. Lift it just enough to see the hinge screw. Do not let hardware drop onto the driver.

Free the old swivel
Back out the hinge screw, then ease the swivel out while feeding the cable. Note the cable path — photograph it. The new part will not fit if the wire takes a new route.
Stop if the cable goes taut. The break is always at the fold.

Thread the new hinge
Feed the cable through the new swivel in the same direction. Seat the hinge, drive the screw, and confirm the cup rotates freely without twisting the wire.

Close and flex-test
Cover, mesh, pad. Fold the cup through its full travel ten times while playing audio. If a channel drops, the wire is pinched — open it back up before you wear them.
