Nintendo Switch Fan Replacement
Original Switch fan swap for a console that overheats or screams. Tri-point shell, game-card slot side, and the fan plug that sits under the heat pipe.
Before you start
- HAC-001 and HAC-001(-01) revised boards differ slightly. Match the fan connector.
- Eject the game card and MicroSD first. The slot side is how the shell comes off.
- Do not lever the heat pipe. You only need the fan plug, not a full GPU re-paste — unless the paste is already dry.

Eject media and strip the back
Game card out, SD out, four long tri-points on the back, hidden screws at the stand and rail. The shell lifts from the kickstand side.

Shields off
Remove the metal shield screws and lift the shields. The fan is the squirrel-cage on the top edge, ducted at the vents.

Unplug the fan
The fan connector is a small friction plug. Spudger under the connector body. Then the fan screws. Lift the fan straight out of the duct.
- 04
Drop in the new fan
Seat the new fan in the duct, screws, then the plug until it clicks. A half-seated plug is a silent fan and a thermal shutdown twenty minutes later.

Close and listen
Shields, shell, tri-points. Boot to the home menu and hold it in your hand — you should feel exhaust. Play something heavier than the menu before you put the rails back on if you want a cheap redo.
